    District Bemetara is situated on the Raipur-Jabalpur National Highway. District Bemetara is connected to 7 major districts of Chhattisgarh, Raipur, Balodabazar, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Kawardha, Mungeli, Bilaspur. Revenue district Bemetara came into existence on 01 January 2012.

    Brief History of Civil Court Bemetara

    Civil Court Bemetara was started in 1906. The civil court in Bemetara tehsil, which was recognized as the largest tehsil of Durg district, was recognized as the largest civil court. The number of regular sitting judges under this tehsil has been 4. Family Court used to operate as Link Court in the last week of the month which is being operated regularly from 01 September 2017.


    New Civil District Bemetara has been started from 02.10.2013 vide Notification No. 6867/Three-10-8/2000(VI) Bilaspur dated 23.09.2013.


    District and Sessions Court Bemetara was inaugurated on 02 October 2013 by Honorable Justice Shri Sunil Kumar Sinha, High Court of Chhattisgarh and Shri AK Beck took charge as the first District and Sessions Judge.

    Geographical Situation

    The geographical position of Bemetara district is completely plain and the climate of the district is warm. The total population of Bemetara district is 795334. The total area of the district is 285481 square kilometers. The main rivers of the district are Surhi, Half, Sankari and Shivnath rivers.

    Transport, traffic and industry:-

    There is a lack of railway line in this district and two major national highways NH 200 pass through the district. Bemetara -Durg, Mungeli via Bemetara, Kumhari Highway is the main highway. Which connects major cities Durg, Raipur, Bilaspur, Bhilai and Kawardha to Bemetara. There is no big industry established in this district. In the form of small and cottage industries, people manufacture bricks, jaggery utensils, clothes, bamboo works, household items etc. Adequate rice mills are located in the district. Small scale industries like shoes, soap and spices etc. are operated.
